Have you ever had a bad, bad nightmare? A dream so terrifying and distressing it drove you insane, an agonizing scenario of pain and horror you had no way to escape from.
The latin word for "nightmare" is "incubus", which comes from the verb "incubare", literally "lie on". A nightmare is something that lies on your chest, a burden that makes you unable to breath and slowly suffocates you with its weight.
